Telemedicine Tips (Click to expand):
Choose the best lighting:
Too bright can make the image appear washed out and too dark can make it difficult to see details. If planning on discussing a rash, ensure you have good lighting, or obtain a picture of the rash with your cell phone camera.
Ensure a strong internet connection:
If you’re calling in with a cellphone, you must have a strong signal. Consider connecting to WiFi or using a network connected computer to ensure high quality video and audio signal. Avoid streaming from a moving car as this can cause disconnections.
Understand the limitations:
Telemedicine is very convenient, but can be difficult to perform a good exam. You may be asked by your physician to touch or expose parts of your body to help the clinician understand what is going on. Ensure you are in an area which is private and the affected area (if applicable) can be seen and examined.
