Will I be prescribed medications?
Our physicians will discuss options which may aid in weight loss, including possible medications. There is nuance to choosing pharmaceuticals for management of weight and discussions of the risks and benefits will be discussed during each visit.
What is medical weight loss
Medical weight management is the discipline of medicine which focuses on modification of diet and lifestyle with the addition of medications to improve weight management. This is at times complimentary with surgical weight loss management.
How will I be monitored?
Whether being seen in person or by virtual appointments, monitoring of weight as well as side-effects and necessary lab monitoring will be discussed during the visit.
Are the treatments evidenced?
All medications prescribed are FDA approved. Wegovy and Ozempic have been proven to reduce cardiac disease. Zepbound has been proven to improve obstructive sleep apnea.
Will insurance cover medications?
Some insurances cover some medications which are on their formulary, or preferred medications. This can change between insurers. If you insurance does not cover medications, we can assist with having prescriptions filled through cash-pay pharmacies. Be sure to discuss during your visit if this is a concern.
How much does this cost?
We do not charge any additional fees for Weight management services, the cost would be the same as an office visit. Fee Schedule
What about if I’m underweight?
Our medical team can treat difficulty with appetite and poor weight gain as well. Comprehensive evaluations and discussions are needed, but rest our team can mange this condition as well!
